Our History / Location
Thirteen people formed the nucleus of Salina Heights Christian Church and became charter members on June 11, 1964. Over the next seven years they grew to fifty-eight members and worshipped in seven different locations.

In 1971 the decision was made to purchase an existing building located at 831 North 10th. A remodeling program, “WHATEVER IT TAKES,” was completed in 1980. In 1986 the church purchased the land, house and garage adjacent to the church. The house served as a parsonage, meeting location for Sunday school classes and a church office. The double garage was later converted to a “Youth House” for the teens.

Having outgrown the buildings, despite multiple services, we once again found ourselves scrambling for room. It was decided in 1998 that we would, with the financial assistance of the Kansas Christian Evangelizing Association, start a new Christian Church in Salina. On Easter Sunday, 1999, 20 members of SHCC followed the call of the Lord to begin New Community Christian Church.

God continued to bring new faces to the Salina Heights family. In 2001 the congregation elected to purchase the properties located on the NE corner of Cloud and Roach formerly belonging to 1st Covenant Church. In May of 2004 we were able to move in ahead of schedule.

Our mission statement developed in the mid-90’s reflects the heart, and hands of Jesus. If you are able to embrace it, we welcome you to a living body of Christ, known as Salina Heights Christian Church.

“To Serve As Christ Serves,
Reconciling Man To God,
‘Til He Comes Again.”
